Pension Plans
All regular Germany-based employees aged 18 to 65 are offered three retirement plans to help save towards their pension. Participation in the statutory pension scheme is mandatory, the other two plans are optional.
Statutory Pension (gesetzliche Rentenversicherung)
All employees working in Germany are legally required to contribute 9.3% of their net salary to their statutory pension plan. Databricks will also contribute 9.3% of your net salary to this plan. As of 2025, the maximum monthly contribution ceiling (Beitragsbemessungsgrenze) is EUR 8,050.
Enrollment
Upon joining Databricks, you will be automatically enrolled in the statutory pension. Should you have any queries regarding your statutory pension, please raise a ticket with payroll.
Direct insurance (Direktversicherung)
You are able to contribute part of your gross salary, tax and social security free (up to the social security limit) to a company pension plan. This is known as Salary Exchange.
Contribution
You can choose to contribute up to 8% of the social security contribution ceiling (EUR 7,728 annual/EUR 644 monthly in 2025) from your gross monthly salary into a direct insurance scheme, tax-free. Additionally, your contributions up to the ceiling of 4% (EUR 3,864 annual/EUR 322 monthly in 2025) will be social security-free.
Enrollment
You will be contacted within 1 month of your hire date by our pension consultant, Dr Fritz Rosien to arrange an individual consultation. Alternatively, you can reach out to Dr Fritz Rosien proactively to arrange an appointment.
Support fund (Unterstutzungskasse)
You are able to make additional voluntary tax-free contributions from your gross salary into the Allianz Support Fund via extended salary exchange. Extended salary exchange is only possible once the direct insurance limit (EUR 644 monthly as of 2025 = 8% of the social security ceiling) has been reached.

Databricks Matching Contribution
Databricks will contribute 3% of your fixed annual base salary into an Allianz support fund when you contribute at least 3% of your monthly base salary into a direct insurance scheme. As Databricks contributes to a support fund, this allows you to use the maximum tax-free amount (8% of the social security contribution ceiling) towards your direct insurance via salary exchange. Databricks' chosen Allianz support fund also provides you with a guaranteed life annuity with a lump-sum option.
Enrollment
Databrick's match will be included in the instruction to payroll once Dr Fritz Rosien confirms that you have enrolled and are contributing the correct percentage to your direct insurance plan.
