You have the option to enrol into the Databricks Collective Plan with CZ or choose your own medical insurance provider. Regardless of the option you choose, you will be required to pay the premium out of pocket directly to the provider of your choice and then apply for reimbursement as outlined in the reimbursement section below.
Eligibility
All employees of Databricks Netherlands (including fixed-term contractors and interns) are eligible to participate from their date of hire. Spouses/domestic partners are eligible as well.
Please note that it is mandatory for all citizens and residents in the Netherlands to have a private Health Insurance and it is your responsibility to ensure that it is in place. If you are new to the Netherlands from abroad, you have up to 4 months from obtaining your BSN to secure healthcare insurance and it is recommended to do so as soon as possible.
Contributions
Databricks provides a monthly reimbursement based on your family status as follows:
- Single: Up to €200 per month
- Couple (employee plus spouse/domestic partner): Up to €370 per month.
Health insurance reimbursements are non-taxable.
Group Collective Plan
Databricks offers the Collective Plan with CZ that includes basic health insurance and various supplementary plans with various deductible options. A 15% discount on the Excess Options and a 10% discount on the Dental Options are already included in the rates.
Enrollment
Existing employees can enrol into the Collective Plan during the open enrollment period held annually in December for the upcoming calendar year.
For New Hires:
- If you come to the Netherlands from abroad, you can join the Collective Plan within 7 days from your date of hire.
- If you were insured through a collective plan arranged by your former employer, you can join the Databricks Collective Plan within 7 days from your date of hire. Note, you will be required to cancel your old policy yourself!
- If you are privately insured, you will not be able to join the Collective Plan until 1 January of the coming year.
- If you are privately insured with CZ and would like to transfer your policy to the Databricks Collective Plan, contact CZ for support.
Reimbursement Process
All employees of Databricks Netherlands who are privately insured are eligible for the reimbursement from their date of hire. All employees must apply for the reimbursement annually, during the open enrollment period held each December for the upcoming calendar year. New hires must apply within 30 days from their date of hire.
To apply, submit the 2024 Health Reimbursement Form.
Once the claim is fully approved, reimbursements will be paid on a monthly basis via Payroll for the remainder of the calendar year. Claims made after the Payroll cut-off date will be paid in the following month's pay cycle. The Payroll cut-off date varies each month. It is usually within the first week of every month.
NOTE: New joiners and leavers will receive the full monthly reimbursement for the month in which they join / leave Databricks. Databricks will not process late applications or backdated contributions.
Is this a taxable benefit?
Employees are not liable to tax on any costs reclaimed under the private health insurance. Monthly reimbursements paid by Databricks are non-taxable as well.
My current private health insurance is with CZ. How do I transfer my private health insurance to the Databricks Collective Plan?
Log into your current CZ account and select the "change collective" option. Contact the CZ team for support if needed.
My current private health coverage is not with CZ. Will I be able to transfer my policy to the CZ Collective Plan mid-year?
If you were on a collective plan with your previous employer you may, however if you are on an individual plan you cannot.
When is my coverage effective when I join the Collective Plan with CZ?
Your coverage will be effective from your date of hire or from the 1st January if you enrol during the open enrolment period in December.
I have relocated from abroad and it’s taking me longer than 30 days to obtain a BSN number. When should I apply for reimbursement?
Notify the People Team immediately about your delay. They will authorise an extension to the 30 day new hire window and you will be able to apply for reimbursement within 5 days from enrolling in the medical insurance. You will be eligible for the health reimbursement from the effective date of your medical insurance policy.
