Benefits


As a regular, full-time Databricks Canada employee, you are eligible to participate in the Canada Life group benefit programs on your date of hire. Participation is mandatory; however, you may waive Health and Dental if you have alternate coverage.


Eligible Dependents
It is important that you enroll yourself and your eligible dependents within 31 days of becoming eligible to avoid any limitations or restrictions in coverage. Eligible dependents include:

  • Legal spouse or common-law partner whom you have cohabited with for a minimum of 12 consecutive months
  • Unmarried children under age 21 or under age 25 if attending an accredited post-secondary school on a full-time basis and not employed
  • Disabled children, regardless of age, provided the disability began before age 21 or age 25 if in full-time studies


Health Insurance
The Extended Health Care Plan provides coverage for medical services and supplies not covered under your provincial health care plan. Eligible expenses are reimbursed at 100% up to the Reasonable and Customary (R&C) limits. Vision care, Best Doctors, and Emergency Out-of-Country Care are included with this coverage.

Databricks pays 90% of the premium for this coverage.


Dental Insurance
The Dental Care Plan covers a maximum of CAD$2,000 per calendar year for basic and major services and does not have any deductibles. Basic services (ie. x-rays, fillings, extractions, etc.) are reimbursed at 100% and major services (ie. crowns, bridges, dentures, etc.) are reimbursed at 60%. Orthodontia is reimbursed at 50%, up to the lifetime maximum of $2,000 per dependent child aged 19 and under only.

Databricks pays 90% of the premium for this coverage.


Group Life and Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D)
You are covered under the group life and AD&D at 2x your annual base salary up to CAD$500,000 which provides protection in the event of death or disability. Your cover reduces by 50% at age 65. You must enroll your spouse/partner and/or dependent child in Dependent Life coverage.

Databricks pays 100% of the premiums for these coverages.


Disability
You are covered under the group short-term and long-term disability plans which provide income protection in the case of any sickness or injury that prevents you from working for an extended period of time. Both plans have Non-Evidence Maximums - you may apply for cover above the Non-Evidence Maximum if your income qualifies.  Any amount of STD insurance over $2,400 is subject to approval of evidence of insurability.  Any amount of LTD insurance over $8,900 is subject to approval of evidence of insurability. Disability benefit payments are taxable.

Databricks pays 100% of the premium for this coverage.


Well-being Programs
You and eligible dependents have 24/7/365 access to Consult+ Virtual Health Care and Employee Assistance Program (EAP) through TELUS Health.

  • Consult+ Virtual Health Care provides private and confidential access to health care professionals while at home or the workplace to receive medical advice for minor conditions (i.e. sore throat, sinusitis, pink eye, allergies, etc.), get prescriptions or refills, get referrals, and find mental health and well-being specialists. 
  • EAP is a confidential support service that can help you and your family resolve a wide range of life challenges, at no upfront cost to you. You can access counselling in-person, phone, e-counseling, or video.
